Hunt-class Mine Countermeasures Vessel
HMS Chiddingfold was built by Vosper Thornycroft, Woolston, Southampton, launched on 6 October 1983 by Lady Anne Kennon and commissioned on 10 August 1984. She returned from the Gulf in August 2011 after a three and a half year deployment where she had been a pioneer of the six-year enduring duty for British mine-hunters safeguarding the waters of the Gulf. Chiddingfold was the first Hunt class to undergo a year-long mid-life extensive refit including re-engineering and replacement of the Deltic diesel engines with Caterpillar C32 Advanced Combustion Emissions Reduction Technology (ACERT) marine propulsion engines.
