
Hunt-class Mine Countermeasures Vessel
HMS Hurworth Built by Vosper Thornycroft, Woolston, Southampton, launched on 29 September 1984 by Lady Anne Halifax and commissioned on 2 July 1985. She returned from the Arabian Gulf in August 2011 after a three and a half year deployment, where she had been a pioneer of the six-year enduring duty for British mine-hunters safeguarding the waters of the Gulf. In 2013 Hurworth underwent a year-long mid-life extensive refit including re-engineering and replacement of the Deltic diesel engines with Caterpillar C32 Advanced Combustion Emissions Reduction Technology (ACERT) marine propulsion engines.
