Built by BAE Systems at Govan Shipyard and launched on 10 October 2018, and named by the Ship’s Lady Sponsor Brigitte Peach on 21 March 2019.
HMS Tamar was commissioned on 17 December 2020. Her homeport is HMNB Portsmouth.
HMS TAMAR and her Sister Ship SPEY deployed from the United Kingdom in September 2021 and are permanently deployed to the Indo-Pacific Region on a five year deployment.
Operating a three watch system the ship maintains 320 days a year of tasking.
