The naval ASW Lynx variant, HAS2, first flew combat operations
with the Royal Navy during the Falkland's War in 1982. The flight
from the frigate HMS Arrow, managed a total of 150 hours, between
21 April and 18 June, often landing behind enemy lines by night
and scouring the coast for hostile Exocet launchers by day.
Although no Lynx helicopters were shot down during the conflict,
three were lost from HMS Coventry, HMS Ardent & MV Atlantic Conveyor
when they were sunk by Argentinian air strikes.
