This painting was commissioned by the officers aboard HMS Dragon, as a leaving gift for the commanding officer. A few years earlier, I had met the CO aboard HMS York, when painting that ship's decommissioning painting and he expressed an interest in a picture of all his commands. By chance when I was approached to paint a leaving gift, I thought this maybe a suitable subject. I hope he liked it.
