Sheffield-class Type 42 Batch 3 Destroyer
HMS Manchester (D95) a Batch 3 Type 42 destroyer built by Vickers Shipbuilding and Engineering launched in 1980 and commissioned in 1982. In 1991, during the First Gulf War, she participated in numerous operations in the Persian Gulf, aimed at primarily upholding the trade blockade imposed on Iraq during Saddam Hussein's invasion of Kuwait. Following this, an anti-drug trafficking tour of duty took place in the West Indies. Her last such mission was filmed for a Channel 5 Television series aired in 2011. During November 2010, she became the first British warship to visit Havana, Cuba since 1957. She was 462ft 7in long with a displacement of 5,200 tons and a top speed of 30 knots. She was decommissioned from active service on 24 February 2011. Original painting is sold.
